PAINTING

ROCHELLE SHICOFF

Her paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally.  In 1980 she was the recipient of the Rome Prize Fellowship in Painting and spent a year painting in Rome, Italy and traveling throughout Europe and the Middle East. Among her awards, nominations for the Fulbright, and American Academy of Arts and Letters.

 

In 2001 she co-authored “The Mural Book: A Practical Guide for Educators” published by Crystal Productions which was specifically written for K-12 educators.

 

Her public art commissioned  murals can be seen in NYC, Massachusetts, Florida, Georgia and Mexico. Her murals have been awarded an Art in Action Grant, The Women Waging Peace Award, and the MA Council for the Arts Grant. She recently was awarded a grant from The Community Foundation of Western MA to create a History of Florence, MA painted community mural.

 

She has received 2 public art commissions from the NY School Construction Authority. The  Open Sky for Sunset Park H.S., Brooklyn, NY. was 3 8’X6’ painted polycloth murals.

Her commission for ArtsWestchester, NY  Seeing The Wind consisted of  (11) 13’ painted aluminum totems. On the tops are moving animals with golden wings. It was installed at the front  of the Mount Vernon Public Library, Children’s Entrance. Her latest commission was for Smart Growth America for a new shuttle system in Western MA. She created 2 informational posters and 6 free standing information installations at 6 key van stops.
